How Far Have You Went As A Fan?

The Ring family goes above and beyond the call of duty as fans of the Flyers -- they stock the team's bus with snacks and even have the team over for dinner. How far have you gone to support your favorite team?

For a "person in the know"....you clearly know VERY little! First of all...independent league baseball is hardly one or two levels removed from the majors. Let me tell you how the baseball system works so you're clear.... these are the organized levels....Rookie League, A, AA, AAA, Major League. The Independent (Frontier. Northern. etc.)Leagues are not even affiliated with a major league organization therefore I think it would be safe to say, they would be considered a lower level. Unless a player was a high draft pick and got a decent signing bonus, it's a pretty well known fact that NO MINOR LEAGUE PLAYERS are making great money until they make it to the 40 man roster. There are very few players that make it to the majors and a lot fewer of them have come from the Independent Leagues (yes, there are some but not many). Every guy on the Flyers is playing with the hope of one day getting to the Major League. Some are on the way up and some have are on their way down. Each play not for the money, obviously, but for the love of the game. They are living their childhood dreams which is much more than some people can say.
For you to say that the Rings only want the guys around to hook their daughter's up with some wealthy baseball star of the future is just idiotic. For starters, if that were the case, I highly doubt they'd be such supporters of the Flyers...I mean it would seem MUCH more logical to support the Kane County Cougars then....an actual minor league team that has had the likes of major league superstars such as Dontrelle Willis.
I think the support the Rings give the players is basically like giving them cash. If their bus is stocked for roadtrips with their favorite things, then they won't have to spend their food allowance on snacks. If they go to the Rings house for a team meal, then they don't have to spend their own money for a meal that day. I am sure it is a welcome change from the meals they would normally have!
I don't know the Rings, I have never met them but I think what they do is great and very much appreciated by the guys. And it just pisses me off when someone  like "in the know" wants to criticize other people's generosity by mud slinging.

Hey "A person in the know!!!"  I think you comments about the Ring family are way off base and you should be ashamed.    Most of us who go to the Flyers games know just how little they players make.    What the Ring family does is great!  I only wish I could do as much for the players as they do!   I'm willing to bet the players welcome all the things the Rings do, be it a dinner, a BBQ or snacks on the bus.   For as little as they make a home made free meal is a welcome change from fast food.

If you had any back-bone, you'd post your own name, and then we'll really see if you are "A person in the know!!!

Maybe the Ring family could put their generousity towards something different such as giving each player some much needed cash. Do you know each rookie player makes only about $25 per game. Think about that for a second. $25 per game and these guys are supposed to be one or two levels level removed from the majors. That's terrible.
Burger flippers make more than that on a bad day. Rich, the owner, must be making a fortune off of these guys.
The Ring family also only want the players around so they can hook up their daughters with some wealthy baseball star of the future.

Thank you for your comments, the boys and I do enjoy going to the games.  They players have been really good to the boys.

Too bad you don't live close to the Flyers.  My oldest has been doing the kids clinic for 5 years and Ryan has enjoyed.  This year was one of the best.  The players, Chris, Josue, Brian, Geoff and Ryan kept the kids on their toes and my Ryan learned alot.   If you can join the Flyers Kids club, I'd do it.  It's one of the best around.

I think what the Ring family does is the greatest.  We see them every game and they are always taking care of the players.   As Justin wrote on the back of his jesey, they are the best family in Schaumburg!

While,  we have givien some of the players gift cards for lunch  and dinner, we still have done nothing close to what the Ring family has given the to the players.  My hats of to them!  Keep up the good work!
